Class Descriptions
The ice is divided based on ability level of the
player.
HOCKEY Learn To Skate: Offers an introduction
to skating. Instruction will focus on balance, agility, coordination, body
position, and proper movements. Class will utilize activities to insure the
learning process is FUN and enjoyable.
Equipment Required- Helmet, Gloves, and Skates
PRE-HOCKEY 1: Builds skills that were developed
in the Pre Hockey 1 program. Instructors will work with students on edge
control, forward striding, and backward striding. The basics of puck control
will be introduced.
Equipment Required- Helmet, Gloves, Stick, and Skates
PRE-HOCKEY 2: Combines skills learned in
Pre-Hockey 1 and 2 with additional emphasis on the skating basics of control
turns, forward and backward crossovers, instructors continue to introduce
students to the fundamentals of puck control, passing and receiving.
Equipment Required- Helmet, Gloves, Stick, and Skates
SCOOTERS: Scooter’s is the next step once
Pre-hockey programs have been mastered. Classes will focus on the basic skills
of skating, puck control, and shooting. Modified games will be incorporated in
a FUN and noncompetitive instructional environment preparing the player for the
next level.

Youth Hockey
Barrington Redwing
Hockey is a growing youth hockey organization now under the direction of
Gino Cavallini, former NHL player.
Fifteen area hockey clubs in the Northwest High School
Hockey League compete at the Barrington Ice Arena during the fall and spring
seasons.

The Chicago Cup
Tournament Series through Advanced Tournaments brings 60 to 145
youth hockey teams to the Chicagoland area each month between September

The Addison Ice Arena is home of the Greater
Chicagoland Adult Hockey League (GCAHL). They offer three to four sessions per

The Barrington Ice Arena
has the following sessions of Drop-In Hockey available for adults (18+):
